The 2012 feature-length documentary "High Ground: 11 Wounded Warriors, Climbing Home From War," will be screened Wed., April 3, 6:30 p.m. on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa. The event will be held in the Center for Multicultural Education, and will be free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
The movie chronicles the efforts of 11 veterans to climb the 20,161-foot-high summit of Lobuche East, which is located approximately 9 miles from the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, Nepal.
The University of Northern Iowa event is co-sponsored by the UNI College of Education Diversity Committee and the UNI Student Veterans Association. Veteran Chad Jukes, one of the climbers featured in the film, will participate in a panel discussion and question-and-answer session following the film.
The movie was produced by Academy Award nominee Don Hahn, and directed by three-time Emmy winner Mike Brown. Writer Brian Mockenhaupt also shares a writing credit on the project, along with others.
